What is SAMI Summer Course?

SAMI (Sustainable Agrifood Management in Indonesia) is an annual international summer course from Department of Management, IPB University, running since 2017. The 9th edition (2026) is held hybrid 27 July – 15 August, with 14 courses on sustainable agrifood management, essay contest, and field visits in Bogor & Garut.

What tracks are available?

Two options: Online Course Track (12 live online sessions, 2 credits) and Online + Site Visit Track (12 online sessions + 2 hybrid courses on campus + field visits, 4 credits).

Registration opens 28 April – 17 July 2026, announcement 17 July, and payment deadline 20 July 2026. For fee details, check the program book.

When are online courses held?

Accepted Answer

12 online sessions run 27–31 July 2026 via Zoom. Slides shared via WhatsApp group one day prior, and also on learning portal samiipb.site.

What happens during the onsite portion?

Offline participants arrive in Bogor 9 August, attend 2 hybrid courses (10 & 14 August), and 9 field visits in Bogor & Garut from 10–15 August — including IPB Dramaga Campus, Eptilu agrotourism, Mandalagiri coffee cooperative, Margawati sheep center, Bestory dodol production, Sukaregang leather market, Cangkuang Temple, IPB Science Technopark, and Bogor Botanical Garden.

Is there a certificate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Participants who complete the program receive Certificate of Completion, Certificate of Participation for Essay Contest, and credit transcripts (4 credits for full program, 2 credits for online only) issued by Department of Management IPB University.

Question 8

Is the essay contest mandatory?

Accepted Answer

The essay contest is part of the project assignment. Groups submit essays (max. 3,000 words) plus presentation, with final presentation 14 August at Start Up Science Technopark, Bogor. Top 3 essays get certificates and cash prizes.

Question 9

What is the language of instruction?

Accepted Answer

All sessions and essays use English.
